Buratai condemns killing of soldiers on duty

According to reports on naij.com, Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Buratai has expressed anger at the killing of soldiers by suspected militants Buratai condemns killing of soldiers on duty across the country without provocation. Speaking with newsmen during Nigeria Army combat arms training week in Bauchi on Tuesday, August 9, after addressing army personnel at the 332 Artillery Regiment in Shendam, a clearly displeased Buratai said the military would however, not be deterred from carrying out its duties of wiping out militants entirely from the country.

Referring to the attack in Niger state, he said, “What happened in Bosso is highly unfortunate. But instead of them – gun runners to be law abiding, they took the law into their hands and attack the troops. “We have the mandate to bring the situation under control, we are working with the police to make sure that we keep our society free of criminalities.’’
Vanguard reports that the troops were on a mission to recover arms hid in communities in the area when they were ambushed and killed.
